Saturday, March 12 and Sunday, March 13, 2022, the Fabbrica del Vapore in Milan will host the first Cyclotourism Show in Italy.
Italians are increasingly choosing active vacations, and among the available options, cycling tourism is one of the most popular activities. According to a study by Unioncamere and Legambiente, cycling tourism in our country represents 8.4% of the total national tourism, with 77.6 million stays. This means over 6 million people who have spent a vacation cycling, generating an annual turnover of 7.6 billion euros.
And the public sector is also getting involved: in just three years, our country has allocated more than 750 million euros for the creation of a national network of bike paths, and local territories are responding rapidly by creating routes, signage, and dedicated services.
The lack of a meeting point between the demand and offer of cycling experiences has led to the creation of the first Cyclotourism Show, which will be held on Saturday, March 12 and Sunday, March 13 at the Fabbrica del Vapore in Milan.
The Cyclotourism Show aims to create a logical path for exhibitors who will present their perfect vacation or weekend: for families, adventurers, or sports enthusiasts, but always by bike.\
“Italy is a country to be enjoyed with the right attention and the right speed,” says Paolo Pinzuti, CEO of Bikenomist and organizer of the show, “with the Cyclotourism Show, we wanted to create a catalog of experiences and beauty for all those who want to ride in new places, away from traffic, but without needing to improvise.”
In addition to the exhibition area, the Cyclotourism Show will also host the Bikeitalia talks, a rich series of meetings, presentations, screenings, and storytelling of places, experiences, dreams, techniques, and travel tips that will animate the two-day event.
The Cyclotourism Show is organized by Bikenomist srl, a Milan-based company specializing in bicycle communication, in collaboration with Estro and RM Ideas Factory.

What is cycling tourism
It is a form of active tourism that involves traveling by bicycle. It can be practiced for short trips, such as day trips, or for longer periods with luggage, camping, or staying in accommodation. You can choose to use only the bike or combine it with trains, buses, or the logistical support of tours organized by specialized agencies. There are many types of cycling tourism, aimed at families, individuals, or groups, with routes accessible to everyone, including more adventurous destinations. It has no seasonality, allows you to create customized itineraries in contact with nature and away from mass tourism circuits, and is undoubtedly an economical way to travel.
