La Via delle Sorelle (the Sisters’ Trail) is a new 130-kilometer route connecting Bergamo and Brescia, accessible on foot or by bike. It crosses over 30 municipalities, offering a multi-stage journey through the green hills of these two provinces.
This itinerary provides a unique experience, inviting travelers to discover hidden spots, ancient pathways, and local traditions, all enhanced by art installations that blend with the landscape. Following a path that minimizes asphalt, it reveals a fresh perspective on the cities and surrounding countryside, with a special focus on nature and culture.
Via delle Sorelle by Gravel bike
“La Via delle Sorelle by Gravel bike” is designed for moderately trained cyclists seeking adventure on dirt roads, trails, and mule tracks. The route can be completed in three stages.
The trail stretches unidirectionally from Brescia to Bergamo, optimized for bikepacking, and can be tackled with gravel bikes, e-gravel bikes, MTBs, or e-MTBs. It largely follows the original walking route, with some adjustments to ensure a safe and enjoyable cycling experience.
Between nature and culture
Passing through picturesque forests, pastures, and breathtaking views, the Via delle Sorelle Trail by Gravel offers cyclists the opportunity to explore hidden spots and untouched nature while keeping asphalt to a minimum.
Designed for cyclists familiar with rugged terrain, the route combines secondary and unpaved roads with single tracks, farm paths, and short technical sections that may occasionally require pushing the bike by hand. The Trail is available in both “Classic” and “Easy” versions, inviting cyclists to immerse themselves in the landscape with options that suit various fitness levels.
“Classic” and “Easy” Routes
The proposed route, divided into three stages to match every cyclist’s pace, is available in a “Classic” version suited to those seeking a medium-high challenge with demanding elevations and technical sections. The “Easy” option, on the other hand, is recommended in case of rain or slippery conditions, making the route accessible even in less favorable weather.
For those desiring a more relaxed, bike-touring experience focused on the cultural and natural attractions of the valley floor, the “Cultural Bike Route” offers a less demanding route between Brescia and Bergamo.
Hospitality and Credential
Along the trail, bike-friendly accommodations in Via delle Sorelle Trail hospitality network offer cyclists a full range of services, including secure storage, e-bike charging stations, and areas equipped for minor repairs.
A Credential has also been created for this trail, serving as a “passport” for the journey and allowing travelers to stamp it at various points. By purchasing the Credential, travelers can access discounted rates at partner accommodations and dining establishments.
The Advanced GPX Track and Mini-Guide
The Credential also provides access to GPX tracks that include information on points of historical and cultural interest, affiliated accommodations, and locations where the Credential can be stamped.
Each waypoint offers descriptions and, if used on a smartphone, can be listened to in audio mode as travelers pass by. The GPX files are compatible with mobile devices and cycling computers, with instructions in the mini-guide to help users make the most of these features.
Assistance and Guided Tours
For those who prefer a worry-free experience, guided services are available for families, groups, or couples. An expert guide can accompany cyclists, offering technical support, insurance coverage, and a customized tour experience. E-bikes are also available for rent, with pick-up in Brescia and drop-off in Bergamo, ensuring maximum comfort and safety on this adventure.
Note: Some sections may be affected by ongoing construction work, so it’s recommended to check the latest updates on the website.
