The journey from Verona to Bologna
The Ciclovia del sole starts in Verona and continues through gentle ups and downs westward to reach the shores of Lake Garda in the UNESCO town of Peschiera del Garda. On the second day, we continue on the route of the Mincio River Cycle Path, immersing ourselves in the protected area of its Park, until we reach Mantua. It continues along flat paths that flank the banks of the Mincio and Po rivers to Ostiglia.
On the fourth day, we pedal through the villages of the Po Valley, such as Revere, Quistello and Concordia sulla Secchia, to immerse ourselves in the Mirandola countryside.
The next day, the track starts 5km from Mirandola, near the train station. Here we enter the section, on its own seat, carved out of the former Bologna-Verona railroad bed. We travel over 30km through typical Emilian villages, such as San Felice sul Panaro, Camposanto with its 20 artist murals, Crevalcore to reach the colorful village of San Giovanni in Persiceto.
Last day, only 36km to Bologna. Following the route, we arrive in the hamlet of Osteria Nuova, where the cycle path on a protected seat ends and the route that leads to Piazza Maggiore begins, to discover the essence of the city in the shadow of the porticoes, a UNESCO heritage site.
