Croatia by bike: Lika and Dalmatia

What better destination than the Lika and Dalmatia Regions to admire lush nature and an exciting coastline, while discovering the richness of a centuries-old historical and cultural heritage, all while riding a bike?

The options are vast because there are many areas to explore, all equally fascinating: the Lika – Karlovac Region, stretching along rivers and lakes, through caves and karst plains, crossed by old roads that lead to the sea and touch the beautiful coasts of Dalmatia and its islands; the Zadar Region, with various types of terrain, from Mediterranean landscapes to mountainous terrains, offering a magical cycling experience; the Šibenik-Knin Region, with its royal cities and powerful fortresses surrounded by spectacular nature; and the Dalmatia-Split Region, characterized by variety and challenges suitable for every cyclist.

Dubrovnik and Neretva Region

Breathing in the scent of the sea, staying in touch with nature, cycling in the shade of cypress trees along one of the many bike paths means you can explore slowly the area between Dubrovnik and the Neretva Valley.

For those who love to race on their bike, train, and test their limits, we recommend the Pelješac Peninsula; while the island of Mljet and its national park offer ideal trails for mountain biking and scenic roads to enjoy a more relaxed ride.

There are also numerous routes that wind through the Neretva Valley. The landscape of the Neretva Valley is completely different from any other part of Croatia, and its true beauty captivates instantly. Views of swamps characterize the beautiful region surrounding the Neretva River estuary. The delta is covered in reeds and picturesque fields with Mediterranean fruit orchards.

Lika Region — Senj

There are numerous mapped bike paths in the Lika area, which cross Mount Velebit and reach Podgorje and Novalja on the island of Pag. The variety of landscapes and terrains offers interesting trips, whether on a mountain bike or a road bike. Indeed, you’ll encounter well-maintained roads and more challenging “wild” trails, country roads, and forest paths, which can be explored solo or on guided tours.
